Responsible travel means that everyone strolling in the nature should care for the environment and act responsible. In Finland we are allowed to stroll in the nature according to the Everyman’s Rights and therefore as well some serious responsibilities for the environment. You will as well notice that conservated areas, like national parks and nature reserves have special rules and regulations how to behave and act.

Keep nature clean – a responsible nature stroller leaves only traces of boots on trails, skis and poles on snow behind. The nature stroller carries everything back, he carried with him. Have you heard about plogging? You can even pick trash left by others while jogging or just because trash don’t belong in nature.

RESPONSIBLE TRAVEL – IN KUUSAMO

Responsible travel in Ruka and Kuusamo is possible without a car. Find accommodation close to Ruka Village and you are close to all services. Moving around is easy by foot or bike. There are many bike rental shops close to the village!

Get to know the available public transportations in Kuusamo from the Local Tourism Association RUKA.FI. Most of the activity companies have transfer available and they can pick you up close to your accommodation. You don’t necessarily need to use your own car when travelling in Ruka and Kuusamo.

RESPONSIBLE TRAVEL TO KUUSAMO

A responsible traveller can travel to Ruka and Kuusamo easily by bus, own car or airplane. You can also choose to travel by train to Oulu, Rovaniemi or Kemijärvi and take your car aboard as well. This way you can relax and need to drive just a short distance to Ruka and Kuusamo and if you have no car, you can take the bus from train station to Ruka or Kuusamo.
